The following minutes are tentative and will not become official minutes of the Board of Education until their scheduled approval at the next regular meeting.

Call to Order and Roll Call 

The Southeastern Community Unit District #337 Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in the Board of Education Office in Augusta, Illinois. Mark Hitz, Board President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call verified that there was a quorum of the Board of Education with the following members present and absent as listed below:

Approval of Minutes 

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Stevens, the Board of Education approved the minutes from the February 28, 2024 regular meeting and closed session.

Special Recognition 

Kimberly Harrison presented the Board Excellence Awards: March Sun of the Month, Region 10 Science Fair ratings, Region 10 Science Fair Advancing to State, Region 10 Science Fair ISEF Finalist, SCC Science Fair Ratings, 2024 KHQA All Do or Die Basketball “WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS” “ALL-STOPPERS” and Girls All Do or Die Basketball 1st Teams, West Central Conference Basketball All Conference 1st Team, Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention, Hancock County CEO Business Pitch Competition-1st Place.

Financial 

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the bills, financial statements, and activity funds.

Informational Items 

Superintendent Lantz discussed the sports cooperative with Central school district. Superintendent Lantz discussed the 8th Grade Promotion/ Junior High Awards Ceremony.

Superintendent Lantz presented the School Maintenance Grants – for both the Bowen and Augusta buildings.

No Administrative reports were given.

On a motion by Member Stephens and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education moved into closed session at 7:06 p.m. for the purpose of the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee to determine its validity.

Action Items 

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Stevens, the Board of Education approved the early graduation of class of 2025 junior Rubie Burnett contingent upon meeting all graduation requirements by May 19, 2024.

On a motion by Member Stevens and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved the early graduation of class of 2025 junior Hailie Heaton contingent upon meeting all graduation requirements during the summer of 2024.

On a motion by Member Stevens and a second by Member Bunnell, the Board of Education approved a leave of absence (maternity) for the 2023-2024 school year for the following: Kaley Havel, Hannah Brown, Kenzie Orris, Caitlyn Parker, Jordan Rauch.

On a motion by Member Tippey and a second by Member Henry, the Board of Education accepted the bid from Adams County Glass for Base Bid #1 for the elementary building in the amount of $61,142.80 plus alternate bid 1A in the amount of $19,769.18 and alternate bid 1B in the amount of $23,157.49 for a total of $103,979.53.
